At the beginning of the year, amid continued posturing by the U.S. president about an American annexation of Greenland, expedition cruise line HX introduced its Greenland Promise. The promise is designed to give passengers peace of mind by offering a guarantee on its cruises. HX had guaranteed that any Greenland cruise in 2026 that it is forced to cancel or a guest withdraws from due to a government travel advisory will be eligible for a full refund or have the option to transfer to another itinerary, or get a future travel credit with a 20 percent bonus.
To coincide with Ullortuneq (Greenland Day) on June 21, the company announced it is extending the promise to all Greenland expeditions in 2027 as well.
“Greenland is one of the most extraordinary destinations anywhere in the world, and 2027 is a fantastic time to experience it with HX,” said Gebhard Rainer, CEO of HX Expeditions. “Guests can expect awe-inspiring landscapes, deep cultural connection and the confidence that comes from travelling with one of the most experienced expedition operators in the region. By extending the HX Greenland Promise to all Greenland sailings in 2027, we are giving travellers even more reassurance to book with confidence and discover this remarkable destination for themselves.”
In addition to extending the promise, HX launched a promotional campaign, celebrating the people and culture of Greenland. The four-part YouTube series shares the stories of four Greenlanders who are working to share their culture with the world.
"We created Kalaallit: Portraits of Greenland to help change that in the most authentic way possible,” says Karin Strand, VP of Expedition Development for HX and Greenland product owner. “Rather than telling Greenland’s story from the outside, we wanted Greenlanders to share their own personal perspectives, experiences and connections to their home, giving audiences a more human, honest and meaningful introduction to this remarkable destination.”
Kalaallit: Portraits of Greenland is now available to watch and share with clients who may be interested in learning more about the destination and its people.
