Adventure Canada has announced its 2027 departures for two of its signature Pacific Northwest expeditions: Haida Gwaii and the Great Bear Rainforest.

Both itineraries will operate aboard the 24-guest MV Cascadia and focus on small-ship exploration, Indigenous-led experiences, and immersive travel through some of Canada’s most ecologically and culturally significant coastal regions.

Haida Gwaii voyage returns in May 2027

The nine-day Haida Gwaii expedition will run from May 25 to June 2, 2027, beginning in Vancouver before sailing north into the archipelago.

According to Adventure Canada, the itinerary is designed to remain flexible, with the pace of the voyage shaped by tides, weather, wildlife activity, and the guidance of Haida hosts.

Guests will explore locations including Kaay Llnagaay, T'aanuu, SGang Gwaay, Hlk’yah GawGa, and K’uuna Llnagaay, alongside rainforest walks, intertidal excursions, and on-water experiences highlighting the biodiversity of the islands and the cultural significance of the region.

“Across the expedition, Haida voices remain central, offering a fuller understanding of an archipelago shaped by long relationship, resilience, and care,” the company said.

Pricing starts at CA$15,495 per person.

Great Bear Rainforest sailing scheduled for September

Adventure Canada’s nine-day Great Bear Rainforest expedition will depart Sept. 19-27, 2027.

Beginning in Haisla territory at Kitamaat, the itinerary includes sailing through Douglas Channel, Gardner Canal, and the Kitlope Valley, with opportunities to explore coastal fjords, old-growth rainforest, and wildlife-rich waterways.

Wildlife viewing is expected to be a key focus of the expedition, with the possibility of sightings including humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, and moksgm’ol — also known as the spirit bear — in the territory of the Gitga’at First Nation.

Exploration will take place by Zodiac, kayak, and on foot, weather and conditions permitting.

Adventure Canada said visits with coastal Indigenous communities and cultural hosts are intended to provide travellers with opportunities to learn about stewardship, contemporary coastal life, and the relationships between communities and the land.

Pricing starts at CA$14,495 per person.

Small-ship focus

With just 24 guests aboard each departure, Adventure Canada says the expeditions are designed around slower-paced travel and smaller group experiences.

“The expeditions are designed to foster understanding—of place, of culture, and of the connections between them,” says Cedar Swan. “Travelling in small groups allows for a more attentive, respectful way of experiencing these remarkable regions.”
