WestJet ranked as North America's most on-time airline in May, according to the latest Cirium On-Time Performance Report.
The airline operated nearly 86% of its flights on time during the month, placing it first in North America and seventh worldwide. WestJet was also the only Canadian airline to rank among the global top 10.
“From our frontline leaders and teams to our partners and supporting functions, this level of performance doesn’t happen by chance: it’s the result of a shared commitment to operational reliability and continuous improvement,” said Safa Yamach, WestJet Vice-President, Operations Planning & Performance.
“WestJetters have worked hard to strengthen our operation, and we’re seeing that translate into more consistent on-time performance, smoother guest journeys and a better overall travel experience. We’re proud of this milestone and look forward to building on the momentum so we can continue to raise the bar.”

The airline said all of its key operational performance metrics improved year over year in May, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve reliability.
Among the gains was a double-digit improvement in aircraft turnaround performance, which measures how quickly an aircraft is prepared for its next departure.
WestJet also maintained an average of 560 flights per day throughout the month and recorded seven days with no flight cancellations across its network.
The strong operational performance extended to its home base as well. YYC Calgary International Airport was ranked the ninth most on-time medium-sized airport in the world for May. WestJet currently operates more than 70% of all flights at the airport.
