Starting today WestJet passengers will be able to continue their European journey from Calgary through Paris or Heathrow and on to Scandinavia on a single booking, thanks to a new codeshare agreement.
The reciprocal agreement sees a WestJet code on SAS flights from Paris and London Heathrow to Copenhagen, Denmark; Oslo, Norway and Stockholm, Sweden, making for seamless connections on WestJet’s year round flights from Calgary International. Passengers will be able to fly on a single ticket with baggage transfers, while earning WestJet Rewards on WestJet marketed SAS itineraries.
The WestJet code will also be placed on the year-round SAS flight between Copenhagen and Toronto Pearson.
“With more Canadians wanting to explore Northern Europe, we are proud to help them get there with ease, so they can focus on the destination," says John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer. "We are proud to partner with a world-class airline like SAS and look forward to introducing more connectivity between our two unique networks in 2026."
Next year, WestJet is expanding its transatlantic offerings to include Edinburgh, Dublin, Barcelona and Reykjavik (Keflavik), which will open even more one-stop connectivity from more Canadian gateways.
On the other side, SAS will place its code on flights to 10 Canadian destinations, allowing its passengers to access Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Halifax and several others via Toronto.
"The expanded codeshare partnership with WestJet is an important step in connecting Scandinavia even more closely with Canada. It strengthens our main base in Copenhagen and gives travelers on both sides of the Atlantic more options and a smoother overall journey. This agreement broadens our joint offering and creates new opportunities for customers across our combined networks," says Paul Verhagen, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at SAS.
