It has been a busy pre-Christmas week at Transat, with the airline launching its first flights from Toronto and Montreal to Lima, Peru. As well, the company offered the first direct flight of the season from Moncton to Cancun, kicking off the sun season earlier than ever.
“It is a great pleasure for Air Transat to bring this promising route to fruition and finally see our star fly over Peru,” said Michèle Barre, Transat's Chief Revenue Officer. “Lima represents a strongly strategic South American gateway within our portfolio of destinations, allowing us to continue to benefit from the sustained growth of tourism on this continent.”
Peru flights are offered alongside a range of all-inclusive packages and a la carte hotels throughout Peru. Excursions will be added to this product offering in the near future as well.
Flights will be operated with next generation Airbus A321LR aircraft featuring spacious cabins, state-of-the-art in-seat entertainment systems and the lowest fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 and NOx) in their class.
Meanwhile, residents of the Greater Moncton area are enjoying an early start to the winter season.
“We are excited that direct flights from Greater Moncton to some popular sun destinations are starting as early as December, which provides more opportunities for travellers who are looking to escape the cold temperatures earlier this season,” said Courtney Burns, President and CEO of the Greater Moncton International Airport Authority.

“Our flight program is not just a return to normal; it's a leap forward,” said Joseph Adamo, Air Transat’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer.
“Winter 2023-2024 brings a substantial capacity boost, allowing us to enhance our services in the Maritimes. By moving up the start date for certain routes and thus extending our operations period, we're ensuring our passengers have an abundance of flight options, right at their fingertips.”
Air Transat flights from YQM to Cancun will be available every Thursday, and, starting today, weekly flights to Punta Cana will be available every Friday.
In February 2024, a weekly flight to Varadero will takeoff, as well as flights to Orlando, which are now offered twice weekly. Air Transat departures to sun destinations from YQM will be offered until May 2024 this season.
