Porter Airlines announced a fleet-wide cabin refresh across for its De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft.

The glow-up includes new seats and upgraded interiors.

The airline has already placed the first refurbished aircraft into service, with upgrades to all 29 Dash 8-400 aircraft expected to be completed by the fall.

At the centre of the refresh is the installation of Expliseat's latest-generation TiSeat 2V, replacing the existing seats. According to Porter, the new seats feature redesigned seat and back cushions developed specifically for the airline, updated tray tables and integrated holders for personal electronic devices. First-row seats have also been redesigned with larger tray tables that provide additional personal space.

The TiSeat 2V uses a carbon fibre and titanium structure, making it one of the lightest aircraft seats in its category. Porter says the reduced weight contributes to improved fuel efficiency and lower carbon dioxide emissions over the aircraft's lifespan.

Beyond the seating upgrades, pax will also notice new LED mood lighting, LED reading lights and updated carpeting throughout the cabin.

"Our passengers told us that seat comfort is a meaningful part of their experience, even on shorter regional flights. Updating seats, along with other cabin upgrades, will noticeably refresh and modernize the overall environment," said Kent Woodside, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Porter Airlines.

"Porter is known for providing a globally recognized flying experience, and we'll continue prioritizing comfort and genuine hospitality as part of our standards. We are pleased to be the first Canadian airline operating with enhanced Dash 8 cabins."

The Dash 8-400 fleet operates Porter's regional routes throughout Eastern Canada and the U.S.

The cabin refresh does not change the aircraft's seating layout or legroom. Porter will continue operating the Dash 8-400 with 78 seats, offering 32 inches of legroom in PorterReserve and 30 inches in PorterClassic. The aircraft will also retain Porter's two-by-two configuration, meaning there are no middle seats.
