Lynx CEO Merren McArthur Resigns To Return To Australia

Lynx Air President and founding Chief Executive Officer Merren McArthur has resigned from the airline after overseeing the strategy, launch and growth of the carrier during the COVID-19 pandemic.

McArthur is leaving for personal reasons to return to her family in Australia but will stay on until the end of September, allowing time for the selection and appointment of a new CEO.

Calgary-based Lynx Air has plans to ramp up its fleet to 46 737-8 MAX aircraft over the next five years, with 11 aircraft scheduled to be delivered this year and next. By the end of 2023, the fleet will number 10.

McArthur is the former CEO of Tigerair Australia and Virgin Australia Regional Airlines. She was also the founding CEO of Virgin Australia Cargo.

“I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to lead Lynx Air from the early planning phase to launch and beyond,” McArthur said in a statement.

“I truly believe in Lynx Air’s vision to inspire more Canadians to fly, providing a great flying experience at an ultra-affordable price. It has been a great privilege to lead the talented team at Lynx Air, whose passion and commitment knows no bounds."
