LGA-YYC Flight Marks Milestone for Calgary

Start spreading the news! American Airlines upcoming flights between Calgary International Airport (YYC) and New York LaGuardia (LGA) mark the 100th destination passengers can fly to direct from Calgary.

The Calgary airport has been racking up direct flights, growing from 82 destinations in 2019, to 94 last year, to breaking into triple-digits for 2025. 

“This is a significant benchmark for YYC,” says Chris Dinsdale, President & CEO, The Calgary Airport Authority. “We continue to build momentum for Calgary as a destination, and kicking off 2025 with 100 non-stop routes shows the confidence that our partners have in the city and the region’s growth potential. We look forward to welcoming LaGuardia-bound guests and strengthening our ties to the New York City region.” 

The flight will operate weekly on Saturdays, from June 7, 2025 until Aug. 30, 2025. Although direct flights are presently offered to the New York region at Newark and JFK airports, this is the first route to fly from Western Canada to LaGuardia. Currently, flights from Canada to LaGuardia only fly directly from Halifax (YHZ), Toronto (YYZ), and Montreal (YUL).
