Air Canada announced its most extensive cabin renewal program to date.

The airline says the updates are aimed at enhancing comfort across its North American flights.

The multi-year initiative covers Air Canada mainline, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express, introducing updated interiors, new technology, and service improvements inspired by customer and employee feedback.

“When customers step onto an Air Canada aircraft, they should instantly feel a sense of comfort, care, and pride,” said Mark Nasr, executive vice president and chief operations officer at Air Canada.

“Supported by award-winning service from co-workers across the company, this renewal program is about delivering that feeling consistently, across every flight. Whether traveling for business, leisure, or something in between, every update is designed with our customers in mind. Notably, this program includes an entirely new Air Canada Rouge product with cutting-edge in-flight entertainment, Fast, Free Wi-Fi, and seats that recline for all customers.”

Air Canada Rouge Upgrades

All Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in Air Canada’s mainline fleet will transition to Air Canada Rouge by 2026.

The updated cabins will include 12 Business Class seats, 18 Preferred extra-legroom Economy seats, and 147 Standard Economy seats—all reclining and equipped with personal on-demand entertainment screens and free Wi-Fi for Aeroplan members.

To support the fleet transition, Air Canada will open a new Rouge crew base in Vancouver, providing more options for leisure travellers in Western Canada.

Mainline Aircraft Improvements

Air Canada’s Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft will operate at mainline with new seating, updated in-flight entertainment, and free Wi-Fi.

Renovated cabins will reflect a “distinctly Canadian aesthetic that is modern, accessible and warm,” according to the airline.

Fifteen Airbus A321s have already been upgraded.

Expanding the Airbus A220 Fleet

Air Canada has 26 additional Airbus A220-300s on order, with the new design standard, including larger XL overhead bins, to be introduced on future deliveries beginning March 2026.

Regional Travel Upgrades

Cabin improvements also extend to Air Canada Express.

Jazz-operated aircraft, including the Embraer E175 and Mitsubishi CRJ-900, will be upgraded starting in 2026, with free Wi-Fi already installed on 55% of the fleet.

The previously announced redesign of 25 De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft will include new interiors, seating, and Wi-Fi for flights departing Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ).

Onboard Service

Air Canada will offer free beer, wine, and snacks on all flights across its North American network. Canadian-made options will include MadeGood Morning Bars for morning departures, TWIGZ seasoned pretzels, and Leclerc Célébration cookies, alongside a selection of beverages.
