The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has announced the relaunch of its revamped public agency search tool, offering Ontarians a more effective way to verify travel agencies, booking websites, and tour operators registered with TICO.
The updated tool consolidates critical compliance and enforcement details in one location.
Previously, information such as suspensions, revocations, charges, and convictions was spread across multiple sections of TICO’s website.
The tool now includes details about companies that are no longer registered with TICO, ensuring consumers have full visibility.
“We believe these improvements to the search tool will enhance consumer confidence when selecting a travel company,” said TICO CEO Richard Smart.
“By consolidating key information into one tool, we are making it easier than ever for consumers to access the details they need to make informed and confident choices.”
The relaunch follows recommendations from the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario’s value-for-money audit, which advised TICO to provide comprehensive compliance and enforcement details about all registered companies within its public directory.
As part of TICO’s ongoing consumer awareness campaign, Ontarians are encouraged to use the search tool to verify that they are booking with a registered travel agency, booking website, or tour operator.
TICO’s consumer protection measures only apply when travel is booked through a TICO-registered company.
