12 Exciting 2022 Caribbean Cruise Itineraries

As the weather turns cooler across most of the country, thoughts of fun-in-the-sun vacations dance in our heads. If you aren't among the throngs that have already booked a cruise to the Caribbean and Bahamas this winter, here is a selection of attractive cruises in a variety of price points that call at beautiful tropical destinations. Please note that these prices were found on the lines' individual websites in late October, and they can change. Ultra-luxury, all-inclusive Silversea Cruises offers an amazing 10-day voyage from Fort Lauderdale to Barbados on the 608-guest Silver Spirit. The Feb. 22, 2022, departure is scheduled to visit Tortola, St. Barts, Antigua, St. Lucia, Bequia and Grenada. While some suite categories are on waitlist, the 376-square-foot Classic Veranda Suite is offered at $5,600 per person, double occupancy. Remember, on Silversea you're not nickel-and-dimed - that fare includes economy-class roundtrip air, transfers between airport and ship, butler service, unlimited wi-fi, multiple restaurants, beverages in-suite and throughout the ship (including champagne, select wines and spirits), 24-hour dining service, complimentary transportation into town in most ports and onboard gratuities.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises offers a new Caribbean itinerary roundtrip from Miami on the 750-guest Seven Seas Explorer - which the company touts as the "most luxurious ship ever built." The 10-night voyage departing March 3, 2022, will take passengers to Key West, Fla.; Cozumel, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; Roatán, Honduras; Harvest Caye, Belize; Santo Tomás De Castilla, Guatemala; and Costa Maya, Mexico.

Fares start at $5,299 for a Veranda Suite, which measures 307 square feet, including an 88-square-foot balcony. That price is a 2-for-1, all-inclusive fare that includes roundtrip air, transfers between airport and ship, unlimited shore excursions, free wi-fi, gratuities and unlimited beverages throughout the ship, including an in-suite mini-bar replenished daily. Book your own flights and transfers and knock off up to $1,000 from the fare.

Norwegian Cruise Line's 2,394-passenger Norwegian Gem this winter operates 10-day Caribbean cruises roundtrip from New York City. The itinerary includes Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; and Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos Islands.

At press time, fares on the NCL website were as low as $859 for an inside stateroom on the Jan. 29 departure. Be sure to check if the "Free at Sea" package promotion is included - it includes open bar, free wi-fi and specialty dining.

Desperate to get away even for a quick cruise at a low price? Consider Royal Caribbean International's four-night Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral near Orlando on 3,926-passenger Freedom of the Seas. It includes a day in Nassau and a visit to the line's hugely popular private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Fares start at $190 inside for the Feb. 28, 2022, departure and $281 for a balcony stateroom, per person, double occupancy. Be sure to check for savings and shipboard credits that are offered at times.

The sassy new entrant into cruising, Virgin Voyages offers several Bahamas cruises, including four-night "Fire & Sunset Soirées" on the 2,770-passenger Scarlet Lady from Miami. In March and April, the voyage is priced from $1,520 per cabin - not per person - for an inside stateroom. Fares include wi-fi, onboard tips, group workouts including yoga and cycling, 20-plus eateries and basic non-alcoholic beverages such as still and sparkling water, non-pressed juices and sodas.

The cruise visits Nassau and the line's private Beach Club at Bimini, a private, resort-like experience for doing slow-flow yoga, lounging by the pool or chilling in a cabana, and ending with a bonfire on the beach.

MSC Cruises USA is offering a longer Caribbean and Bahamas voyage - 18 nights on the 3,500-passenger MSC Divina, roundtrip from Miami. The cruise stops in exotic places like Aruba; Cartagena, Colombia; Colon, Panama; and Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. Amazingly, the average lead price for this voyage is $1,399 per person cruise only on March 6, 2022. (Add in drinks and wi-fi and the price is still a low $1,599 per person.)

The itinerary also includes not one, but two days, at the line's private Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. It offers two miles of white sand beaches where chairs, umbrellas and cabanas await. Guests can snorkel, paddleboard and get a beachside massage. But there's more - the reserve was designed to help take care of the planet.

MSC Cruises is working to clear the island and ocean bed from discarded debris and relocating coral with the longer-term vision of encouraging coral to grow and repopulate.

Windstar Cruises' 312-guest Star Legend - recently expanded and beautifully renovated - is operating seven-day roundtrips from St. Maarten. The "Windward Islands Surf & Turf" includes stops at Grenada; Bequia; Pigeon Island, St. Lucia; Les Saintes, Guadeloupe; and Gustavia, St. Barts.

The Feb. 26, 2022, departure is priced from $2,799 per person, which includes all meals and entertainment on the ship. (A balcony suite starts at $3,799 per guest.) You can add on the "All-In" package priced from $79 per person, per day. That includes unlimited wi-fi, gratuities and unlimited beer, wine and cocktails.

Oceania Cruises offers a 10-day roundtrip departing Miami on Feb. 26. The voyage aboard the upscale, 1,250-passenger Riviera is priced from $2,499 per person. Oceania offers the limited-time "O Life" promotion at times, so look for that for 2-for-1 fares, roundtrip air, airport transfers and either open bar, six free shore excursions or onboard credit. The highest and lowest categories are on waitlist, but a Veranda Stateroom is priced from $3,499.

This departure visits St. Barts, Martinique, Antigua, San Juan and Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

For an even lower price, Oceania's 684-guest Sirena departs Feb. 23, 2022, on a 10-day roundtrip from Miami priced from $2,299 per guest. This voyage visits St. Maarten, Dominica, St. Lucia, Antigua, San Juan and Puerto Plata. That price is for just the cruise but add on the "O Life" package, and it's still only $3,099.

Carnival Cruise Line offers a six-day Western Caribbean cruise from Galveston, Texas, on the 3,646-passenger Carnival Dream. The cruise visits Costa Maya, Mexico; Mahogany Bay, Honduras; and Cozumel, Mexico. Fares start around $219 on average per person for the Feb. 6, 2022, departure.

The Carnival Dream offers a variety of no-charge restaurants, including Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que, Mongolian Wok, a pizzeria, Guy's Burger Joint, Bonsai Sushi and BlueIguana Cantina.

Crystal Cruises' 848-guest Crystal Symphony is sailing in the Caribbean this winter. One favorably priced option is the seven-day cruise from Miami to San Juan, departing March 12, 2022. Fares start at $1,899 per person for a Deluxe Stateroom with Verandah. Ports of call include Saint John, U.S. Virgin Islands; Antigua and Barbuda; Guadeloupe; St. Maarten; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Crystal is an all-inclusive luxury line, so fares include globally inspired dining and unlimited pours of fine wines, beers and premium spirits.

Princess Cruises offers a variety of Caribbean voyages. Some are available at very attractive prices - such as the new Enchanted Princess' 20-day cruise that sails round-trip from Fort Lauderdale. The Feb. 18 voyage is priced from $2,298 per person for an interior stateroom; a balcony room is priced from $4,198. Ask your travel advisor if it will include the "Best Value" promotion for onboard credit, free drinks and wi-fi, which is priced at $4,998 per person.

Ports of call include the private destination Princess Cays, St. Thomas, Dominica, Grenada, Bonaire, Curacao, Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados and St. Kitts. Enchanted Princess carries 3,660 passengers, double occupancy.

Ultra-luxury line Seabourn offers a seven-day "Caribbean Spice Islands" cruise. The March 5, 2022, roundtrip from Barbados is priced from $3,299 per person for an ocean-view room on Seabourn Odyssey, a 458-guest ship. Ports of call include Rodney Bay, St. Lucia; Dominica; Guadeloupe; Carambola Beach, Saint Kitts & Nevis; Trois Ilets, Martinique; and Saint Georges, Grenada.
