Rocky Mountaineer Clarifies: Canadian Offer IS Commissionable

An article in the Globe and Mail that caused a lot of fury in the industry Wednesday morning, is incorrect.

TravelPulse Canada reached out to the Rocky Mountaineer team early Wednesday morning after several complaints from the industry that the supplier was intentionally excluding travel agents from its latest "Canadian Resident" offer.

The Canadian Resident offer which couples can save $1600, can be booked via travel agents and is 100% commissionable. It does however have to be booked by calling into their sales centre, not directly online by the agent. (more)

"Our call centre is experiencing higher than usual wait times, but we are prioritizing 2021 bookings," says Nicole Ford, Rocky Mountaineer. "If an agent is looking to book a client with this offer, they can do so by calling one of our in-house vacation consultants."

Ford says the Aeroplan deal mentioned in the article is available for direct bookings only, but another offer with Fairmount, can be combined for extra value.

"Our team has also worked hard to create other new 2021 promotions that travel agents can take advantage of. Like so many across the industry, Rocky Mountaineer is trying to do what we can to recover from the devastating impact of the pandemic, so the company, and the other businesses that support our guests, can survive.

Ford says she's reached out to the Globe and Mail to have the article corrected online.
