Sunwing & Its Staff Gets Creative In Raising Funds For Ukraine

TravelPulse Canada stopped by Sunwing's HQ near Toronto Pearson to document one of several initiatives the company is taking to raise funds for Ukrainian relief efforts.

An in-house fundraiser saw more than 100 Sunwing employees gather in their canteen to enjoy a Ukrainian-themed lunch of beef barley soup, cabbage rolls and perogies.

Staff donated $10 each for lunch, a sum that was matched by Sunwing.

The company is also organizing a suitcase drive. There's a shortage of suitcases in Ukraine for the shipment of military gear for their fighters, so Sunwingers donated gently worn suitcases. The suitcases will be sent over this Friday to the Second Front Ukraine Foundation, a Canadian non profit organization who ships tactical equipment such as body armour, helmets, boots and more to Ukraine.

To date, Sunwing and its staff have raised more than $11,000 to assist Ukraine, with more initiatives planned in the coming weeks.
