European travel season is gearing up and Globus has released some key trends it has seen based on booking so far for the year.
With 2025 being a Jubilee Year in the Catholic faith, a travel boom to Italy was expected and indeed, that is reflected in bookings. Globus reports Italy as the most sought-after destination in the world.
"Italy’s Jubilee Year offers Canadian travel advisors an incredible chance to connect clients with a once-in-a-lifetime celebration – partnering with a tour expert that truly understands Italy from top to toe,” said Denise Harper, managing director, Canada sales for the Globus family of brands. “With 33 tours and over 400 departures across Italy, Globus gives advisors an effortless way to deliver the best of the country – from exclusive access to carefully selected stays and stress-free transportation.”
Top 5 (Non-Italian) Destinations
Bookings and travel advisor commissions are up at Globus. Other than Italy, the top five destinations are:
- France – up 20% over 2024
- Alpine countries (Switzerland, Germany & Austria) – up 20% over 2024
- Portugal – up 10% over 2024
- Ireland – up 5% over 2024
Shoulder Season
Finally, Globus shares the expanded popularity of shoulder season. With historically fewer crowds, cooler weather and prices that are often less than what they are during peak season, travellers are booking trips on either side of high season. According to Globus’ recent Wish List Survey of 25,000 travellers, 75% are opting to visit Europe during the shoulder-season.
