From now until June 26, 2025, Canadian residents can book select Canadian tours with Intrepid Travel and save 20 percent.
It’s an effort to encourage Canadians to explore or “re-explore” our own backyard, as much as it is recognition that a lot of Canadians are not interested in travelling to the U.S. right now. Christian Wolters, President, Canada at Intrepid Travel compares it to travel trends seen during the first Trump administration. “We saw an increase happen to Canadian and domestic travel,” Wolters told TravelPulse Canada. “We're seeing something quite similar right now, in that double-digit growth side.”
Wolters points to some of the buzz created for Kanaskisis and the Rockies by the G7 conference, where the stunning landscapes of the region were showcased for the world to see. Having travelled recently to Lake Louise, he was reminded of the diverse natural beauty of our country. “I've had the privilege of travelling all over the place and forgot how gorgeous the Icefields Parkway and the beautiful turquoise lakes up there are,” he says. “[This offer] is a good way to get people to re-explore and see what we to offer in our country.”
One of the featured trips is Hiking in the Canadian Rockies, which includes off-grid canoeing in Wells Gray Provincial Park. It’s one of the bestsellers this season. Another way to experience the Rockies is with the Canadian Rockies and Northern Lights tour, which features a stay at an Indigenous-owned lodge in a Dark Sky preserve.
Other popular Intrepid trips where travellers can take advantage of the promotional pricing are in the Maritimes, another of Wolters' favourites. Highlights of these East Coast trips he raves about are a fisherman's feast on the shores of PEI. “It's absolutely beautiful, like having a traditional boil” and ceilidh night in Baddeck, Nova Scotia: “You get to hear Cape Breton's natural music, and watch a performance. It’s really cool, all that fiddle music.”
Wolters is excited about getting Canadians out to see more of the country and the fact that in May, Canadian trips broke into the top 10 best-selling destinations of choice for Canadian travellers across the company’s global portfolio. He himself has visited all the provinces; up next on the list is getting up North to explore the Territories.
Intrepid’s Canadian Domestic Sale runs until June 26, 2025 for travel from now until Dec. 14, 2025.
