Intrepid Travel published its 2024 Integrated Annual Report, showcasing how purpose-driven responsible travel is a key to its business success, celebrating its best financial year yet in its 35-year history.

The B Corp-certified tour operator celebrated a year that brought it into the highest-scoring category of B Corps and, along with it, experienced a 17 percent year-over-year revenue growth, earning $392.6 million last year. Intrepid saw a record-breaking EBITDA of $26.9 million, a 24 percent increase.

Intrepid also provided $8 million in bonuses to eligible employees in cash and shares. In fact, 555 of its employees are also staff shareholders. The Intrepid Foundation, its charitable arm, raised $1.5 million last year for grassroots initiatives across 39 different countries.

“I’m exceptionally proud of our team who are delivering the best sustainable, experience-rich trips for our customers and making a positive impact for communities around the world,” said James Thornton, CEO of Intrepid Travel. “In 2025, we are committed to building on this success and working closely with our industry partners to show that travel can bring people together, foster greater understanding, and create positive impact when done responsibly. What we achieved last year is once again proof that it is possible to grow both profit and purpose.”

The Top Destinations of 2024, According to Intrepid Travelers

The tour operator hosted over 287,000 travelers across 1,057 trips last year, all of whom supported the company’s 1,523 trip leaders.

The top ten most-visited destinations by Intrepid travelers include Vietnam, Morocco, India, Cambodia, Peru, Japan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Australia and Italy.

Intrepid also released tours to new destinations like Greenland, Saudi Arabia, Maldives and to several countries in West Africa.

Intrepid’s 2025 Focus: Expansion and Decarbonization

More recently, Intrepid is focused on expansion and decarbonization, opening a new sales and marketing office in Seattle, expanding global operations in Denmark and Amsterdam with the acquisition of Sawadee Reizen and continuing in its emissions reporting, the sustainable energy transition of its offices and offsetting its trip emissions.

Intrepid Travel reports that, due to a lack of sustainable infrastructure and net zero suppliers available across the globe, its 2035 decarbonization plan is running behind. The tour operator must rely on governmental change, technological advancement and cross-sector decarbonization to reach its goal.
