Explora Journeys Is Getting Into River Cruising

Another brand is making the leap into river cruising.

Explora Journeys announced today that it has signed a letter of intent with Dutch shipbuilder Den Breejen Shipyard for the construction of its first luxury river ships. 

The brand, which is part of MSC Group, launched in 2023. Since then, it has “sought to change the way people experience ocean travel,” according to the announcement.

Now, the company plans to bring that same approach to Europe’s rivers.

More details will be announced in the future, including ship design, onboard experiences, delivery schedules and initial itineraries. The brand expects to open sales for its new river cruises in 2027.

Explora Journeys is just the latest brand to announce a foray into European river cruises. Celebrity Cruises plans to launch its first river voyages next year aboard Celebrity Compass. Lindblad Expeditions and Trafalgar also launched their first river cruises this year.
