The Turks and Caicos Islands appointed Hon. Zhavargo Jolly as the new Minister of Tourism, Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment, following the recent elections in the British Overseas Territory.
He replaces Hon. Josephine Connolly, who held the position from 2021 to 2025.
Hon. Jolly was sworn in last month after the Progressive National Party (PNP) won the February election.
"Tourism has always been lucrative, but now it’s time to ensure that Turks and Caicos Islanders are the primary beneficiaries of that success," Hon. Jolly stated in a Facebook post.
"I firmly believe that economic growth and environmental preservation can go hand in hand. Countries worldwide have found ways to harness their natural resources while ensuring their people are the direct beneficiaries. We can do the same!
"Our environment, the very foundation of our success, will be protected for future generations."
Jolly, with a background in finance and economic development, served as the managing director of Turks and Caicos Islands Capital before entering politics. In addition to tourism, Hon. Jolly’s ministry will oversee agriculture, fisheries, and the environment.
