Discover America Welcomes New Board Members

Discover America Canada recently held its annual meeting where members discussed the issues facing the tourism industry, held an election for the new board, and heard from a special guest. 

Discover America Canada is dedicated to promoting Travel and Tourism to the United States from Canada and is made up of representatives from hotels, attractions, tour operators, DMOs, destinations, associations, OTAs and transportation companies as well as marketing and media companies that conduct business into the United States or represent American destinations. Discussion topics, unsurprisingly, centred on the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Canadian trade dispute and the Canadian loonie which has been sagging against the U.S. greenback for several months.

Elections were also held as part of the sold-out event. The new board consists of:

The gathering was also honoured to hear from Olympian Sophie Bukovec, who participated in the Paris 2024 games. Bukovec shared her journey through the world of elite sports and provided her insights into resiliency and the pursuit of one’s goals. Bukovec’s inspirational story was welcomed by the audience who appreciated her positivity and story about grit, determination and beating all odds, especially during this tumultuous time in the industry.
