Selling luxury stays has its own set of challenges. Affluent travellers may be on the lookout for a new destination or a new property to stay at where they are among the first of their peers to visit. Add in concerns about overtourism, and it's clear that travellers have reached a tipping point, seeking less-visited sites for their journeys.

According to the 2024 Global Rescue Traveler Sentiment and Safety Survey,  overtourism is a concern for 76 percent of travellers and 31 percent experienced its effects firsthand last year. MMGY reports that 60 percent of travellers are considering overcrowding when choosing destinations.

Staying on top of where to send your clients can be overwhelming, but here are a few luxury stays in out-of-the-way destinations you may want to put on your radar.

While Costa Rica isn’t necessarily “off the beaten path” anymore, a new luxury all-inclusive is worth noting. It will be among the first of the brand’s all-inclusives, which will focus on “mindfulness, exceptional service, and sophisticated design.” The resort will have 415 guest rooms, 11 diverse food and beverage outlets, and 44,000 square feet of water amenities, including 17 swimming pools plus a spa and fitness centre.
