In a bid to charm more Canadians, several hotels are lowering prices and offering exclusive promotions for travellers from our country.

While the leader of the U.S. insists that the slump in cross border travel is “not a big deal,” some hotels disagree. And they are backing it up with discounts.

In Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, the boutique Campfire Hotel is offering Canadians 20 percent of their stay. “This spring, the hotel is leaning into its independent spirit by launching the Tariff-Free Room Package, offering 20 percent off stays for all Canadian guests,” Campfire Hotel states. “The message? Simple: We see you. We value you. This one's for you.”

Staying in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle also has some Canadian-exclusive promotions. A grassroots movement called “Open Arms for Canada” sees local businesses advertising discounts for their “Canadian friends.” The website doesn’t mince words in its support for the Great White North. “We regret how our federal government is treating you. We wish we could change what happens in the other Washington,” it states.

Participating businesses, which include ferries, hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions will take 30 percent off the bill for people with Canadian ID. “We respect that your elbows are up,” the website states. “For you, we’re keeping our arms open.”

If clients are not swayed by discounts at American destinations, perhaps a visit farther south is in order. At Stonefield Villas in Saint Lucia, Canadians can relax and rejuvenate in Caribbean luxury.

The property has created a package for Canadians to stay in a one-bedroom Ocean View Villa with a private pool. Travellers will enjoy an included daily breakfast, served beneath the stately Saint Lucian Pitons that feature on many postcards and Instagram posts. The promotional nightly rate of $745 CAD ($520 USD) includes breakfast and all fees and taxes, a significant savings from the usual rate of $635 USD. Canadians will be asked to show their ID at check-in.

“We are excited to offer this special rate to our Canadian visitors, allowing them to experience the serene luxury of our resort at an exceptional value. Our commitment to providing an unparalleled experience is reflected in this gesture of appreciation for our valued northern neighbors," said Cybelle Brown, Managing Director of Stonefield Villa Resort.
