A Glimmer of Hope for Le Massif Season

Le Massif de Charelvoix will resume operations on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026 after unionized employees voted 91 percent in favour of a new deal proposed by a mediator.

Le Massif, the Quebecois ski resort in Charlevoix announced yesterday it will be closed for the year due to labour action. Today, some hope emerged that the season might still be saved under a new agreement.

Workers as Le Massif have been on strike since Jan. 2, 2026 under a dispute centred mainly around wages. The resort remained partially open from Jan. 6 until Jan. 19, after which the employees voted down two proposed agreements and the resort was shuttered for the remainder of the season.

Now, a new mediated proposal is being presented. The approximately 300 unionized workers will vote on it today, reports the Canadian Press.

Le Massif de Charlevoix is a major economic driver for the region and there are concerns over the detrimental effect having it closed will cause. The resort has a web page devoted to answering questions about visiting, but at the time of writing, it was mostly stating that it will be about two weeks before they are able to offer concrete answers.
