Another major hotel company is jumping on the all-inclusive bandwagon as Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has announced a partnership with Playa Hotels & Resorts to launch a new all-inclusive resort brand named Wyndham Alltra.
The launch marks Wyndham's 22nd brand and its first dedicated entirely to the all-inclusive segment.
Wyndham has lots to bring to the table as the world's largest hotel franchising company, with 9,000 hotels among its brands and 89 million loyalty group members. Playa Hotels & Resorts is a leader in the all-inclusive market, developing, owning and operating resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean.
The first two Wyndham Allta resorts are conversions of Panama Jack all-inclusive properties. December 1 marks the opening date for the resorts, in Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
Wyndham says Alltra will occupy the upper midscale all-inclusive space, with the marketing slogan "All-Inclusive Travel for All." The company plans to target cruisers and others who have little or no experience with the AI format. Both adults-only and all-ages resorts are in the plans.
"Wyndham Alltra will introduce many of our over 150 million annual guests to our first all-inclusive brand," said Geoffrey A. Ballotti, President and CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
"Partnering with a leading owner, operator and developer of all-inclusive resorts in prime beachfront locations, will create immediate access for our customers and our over 80 million Wyndham Rewards members to a fabulous, all-inclusive guest experience - members who will be able to redeem their Wyndham Rewards points for a new all-inclusive vacation experience at Wyndham Alltra resorts, and earn points for their stays."
Playa has an exclusive agreement for the Alltra brand in Mexico, the Caribbean and some Latin American countries.
"Today's announcement combines Wyndham's robust distribution capabilities and award-winning loyalty program with our highly acclaimed all-inclusive expertise," said Bruce Wardinski, Chairman and CEO, Playa Hotels & Resorts. "Together, we are launching a new experience in the upper-midscale resort segment to reach more first-time all-inclusive guests."
The first two resorts to debut under the Wyndham Alltra brand are the 458-room Wyndham Alltra Cancun, located in the resort city's hotel zone and featuring 10 restaurants, bars, lounges and pools, and the 287-room Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen located steps from Fifth Ave. with its bars, restaurants and high-end shops.
