Hard Rock International (HRI) has announced it will cease operations of The Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas as of July 17, to begin the three-year transformation of the property into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas (HRHCLV).
Hard Rock will develop a new integrated resort featuring a nearly 700 ft. tall guitar-shaped hotel towering prominently in the centre of the famous Las Vegas Strip.
The 3,000-room Mirage, fronted by its familiar volcano, has been a Vegas staple for more than three decades. Opened in 1989 by casino mogul Steve Wynn, the property ushered in a new era of resorts for the Strip and was the first to have a sidewalk attraction with its volcano, prompting the Bellagio and Venetian to follow.

MGM Resorts bought the Mirage from Wynn in 2000 and sold it in 2022 for more than $1 billion to Hard Rock International. It’s the second time Hard Rock will have a presence in Las Vegas. The brand previously owned an off-strip hotel.
"We'd like to thank the Las Vegas community and team members for warmly welcoming Hard Rock after enjoying 34 years at The Mirage," said Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International.
"While we pause for the incredible transformation of this iconic property, I'd like to thank all team members at The Mirage for their incredible commitment and helping us provide memorable experiences for our guests," said Joe Lupo, President of The Mirage.
Guests with room reservations or show tickets beyond July 14, 2024, will be automatically cancelled and refunded. Guests with reservations booked through a third-party provider or online travel agency will automatically be cancelled. To learn more about reservations and refunds, click here.
