Falmouth is a town of great historical and cultural importance. It was founded in 1769 and flourished thanks to its role in the sugar and rum trade. Its colonial architecture, museums, markets and churches bear witness to its great past. The town also boasts the enormous White Bay beach with white sand and crystal-clear waters, making it a privileged spot for water sports and outdoor activity enthusiasts.

The new Riu Palace Aquarelle is the chain's first hotel in the Caribbean to use solar energy and the chain has plans to implement this initiative in other destinations in the region, after having invested in photovoltaic systems at its hotels in Spain, Cape Verde, Senegal, the Maldives, Zanzibar and Mauritius.

Thanks to the 400-kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar power system made up of 795 photovoltaic panels installed on the roof, the hotel will be able to generate up to 470,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean energy per year. This green initiative will cut down the hotel's energy consumption by 5-10%.which will in turn reduce CO2 emissions by approximately221,482 kilograms per year.
