‘Storybook’ Hotel Earns Rolling Stone Travel Award

Rolling Stone released its top picks for travel this year, and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler took top honour for Best Ski Resort, calling the resort "something straight out of a storybook". It was the only Canadian property included in the list of awards, which ranged from Best Hotel for Music Fans (The Roxy Hotel, New York City) to Best Safari Camp (Ishara Masai Mara, Kenya).

Rolling Stone lauded the Chateau’s location, saying, “It’s hard to imagine a better destination for skiers, blessed with a long snow season and true ski-in/ski-out access to the new Blackcomb Gondola,” along with its welcoming ambience “feels more like a country retreat than a chain hotel, with roaring fireplaces, rustic wooden accents, and a truly excellent spa.”

Fairmont also won the TravelPulse Canada Readers’ Choice Award for Best Chain for Luxury Travel this year.
