Fora Travel Co-Founder and CEO Henley Vazquez took the time to answer some of our questions about Fora’s entry into the Canadian market. With TICO registration secured at the start of April and plans to expand into other provinces soon, the company is eager to know and be known by the Canadian travel industry. “We're excited to finally expand our offerings to Canadian entrepreneurs and help grow more small Canadian businesses!” Vazquez says.
TravelPulse Canada: Can you share the story of Fora?
Henley Vazquez: Fora is the modern travel agency on a mission to empower travel entrepreneurs. My co-founders and I were motivated to create Fora during the aftermath of the pandemic, which left approximately 1.5 million women without jobs and many workers seeking career flexibility. We set out to help a new wave of unsuspecting yet natural entrepreneurs to turn their passion into profit, no matter their stage of life and career.
Fora eliminates pain points and barriers to entry, giving travel advisors at every level the ability to start and grow a travel advising business. We believe we have a unique opportunity — to empower thousands of travel-passionate people to discover work they love, to become the obvious choice for anyone planning a trip, and to enable travel providers to focus on delivering hospitality and exceptional experiences rather than the complexities of distribution.
TPC: Why has Fora chosen to expand into Canada now? What are the plans for expanding?
HV: We have been eagerly anticipating our launch in Canada for quite some time! Since launching Fora in 2021, we’ve heard from many Canadians looking to join Fora, eager to support our mission. We've helped travel entrepreneurs find success across many other countries and we're thrilled to now be able to do the same for Ontarians thanks to TICO registration. We're actively working towards additional registrations beyond Ontario.
TPC: What can Canadian advisors expect if they work with Fora?
HV: Canadians can expect a friendly and inclusive community of advisors paired with a platform that provides all the tools required for an advisor to build a successful travel business. Fora offers learning and training opportunities as well as in-person community and partner events. These have already begun to take form in Toronto with more to come across the country. We also offer online training specifically for our Canadian advisors.
TPC: How is Fora different from (or complementary to) other host agencies?
HV: Fora sits uniquely at the intersection of tradition and technology—one foot in a heritage industry, the other in Silicon Valley. From our vantage point, we see a historic opportunity to transform the entire travel booking experience, leveraging the best of humans and the best of technology, including AI.
Fora provides advisors with access to over 170,000 bookable hotels, training programs, content, and marketing tools. We have the fastest commission payments in the industry, and our online forum connects thousands of advisors across the global Fora community. By leveraging technology, we created a new career path for travel entrepreneurs with inclusivity and flexibility at its core.
