Top-selling travel partners of Transat and the Dominican Republic were thanked for their efforts yesterday at the Culinaria Restaurant/Culinary Arts School of Ontario in Mississauga.
About 20 advisors were hosted by Transat’s Lindsay Merrill, Angela Gervasio and Dima Fahed, along with Cosette Garcia, Director, Dominican Republic Tourism Office, who travelled from her home-base in Montreal for the event.

It was a warm, sunny October day in Ontario, but Canadians know the cold is coming, and a meal of Dominican favourites was a reminder of what their clients can look forward to on a D.R. winter escape.
Not only did the invited advisors get to enjoy a great meal, they also helped prepare it, under the tutelage of professional chefs. The meal included tostones – delicious fried plantains, a salad with a tasty honey/espresso vinaigrette, and pollo guisado, an iconic D.R. braised chicken dish.

“The Dominican Republic remains a Canadian favourite,” said Transat Sales Manager Merrill. “Punta Cana is still number one, but the Puerto Plata region has gained a lot in popularity and Samana is an up-and-coming destination too.”
Garcia said 2024 has been a great year for Canadian travel to the D.R., and she encouraged advisors to get more for their bookings by participating in the DO Travel Rewards Dominican Republic Global Loyalty program.

Launched last June, the program rewards advisors who register their bookings through Transat or any other operator. Points turn into US-dollar-based rewards, applied to a debit card. The program includes other components, include Fam Trip Sweepstakes, webinars and destination trainings, networking opportunities and contact with local suppliers.
“We want you to get something extra for the work you do and the support you give us,” Garcia said. “We’ve heard a lot of good response from agents and we want all of you to be rewarded for supporting the Dominican Republic.”
