With more Canadians opting to explore their own backyard, tourism within the country is expected to outperform other sectors this summer, buoyed by international travellers choosing Canada as a destination.

Lonely Planet has released its list of the top 15 places to visit across the country — everything from remote Arctic communities to vibrant urban neighbourhoods.

Whether it’s chasing the northern lights or walking red dirt trails, these picks celebrate Canada’s vast beauty and cultural diversity.

From coastlines and cobblestones to ice bubbles and Indigenous heritage, here’s a look at what made the list:
