The Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism hosted its Dominican Republic Tourism Roadshow in Montreal on May 13 at the Four Seasons Hotel Montreal, bringing together travel advisors, tour operators, airline partners, media, and tourism stakeholders to highlight the destination’s latest developments and connectivity to Canada.The event focused on the Dominican Republic’s expanding tourism offering, including destinations such as Punta Cana, Samaná, Miches, Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata and La Romana, alongside new hotel projects and tourism developments aimed at the Canadian market.According to the Ministry, Canada remained one of the Dominican Republic’s most important international tourism markets in 2025, with more than 1.1 million Canadian visitors accounting for 13% of the country’s total international arrivals. Quebec travellers represented 39% of all Canadian arrivals.“Quebec continues to be an incredibly important market for the Dominican Republic. The Montreal Roadshow provided a valuable opportunity to connect directly with travel professionals and partners, while highlighting the continued evolution of our destination, from new developments and enhanced connectivity to the rich and diverse experiences that continue to resonate with Quebec travellers,” said David Collado.The destination is also seeing strong repeat visitation from Canadians. According to the latest tourism insights shared during the event, 92% of Canadian visitors said they would return to the Dominican Republic, while 53% said they would recommend the destination to others. Beaches, climate, hotels, and direct flight access were cited among the top reasons Canadians continue choosing the Caribbean destination.Air connectivity between Canada and the Dominican Republic also remains strong, with more than 6,700 flights operated in 2025 across 29 routes. The average load factor reached 83%, with Montreal continuing to serve as one of the destination’s key gateways.The Montreal roadshow forms part of the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in Canada and deepen relationships with the travel trade.
