Visit California is reaching out to its northern neighbours with a message: You are missed.
In a campaign launched today, the state's tourism board is reminding Canadians just how valued they are to the Golden State.
A new video and a partnership with Expedia are central to the push, offering Canadians up to 25% off more than 1,000 hotels, activities, and attractions through a special landing page.
“California wouldn't be California without Canada,” the video declares.
Last year, over 1.8 million Canadians visited California. But with economic uncertainty and a growing interest in domestic travel, that number has dipped.
Visit California hopes the campaign will rekindle interest by highlighting the state’s diversity, inclusivity, and endless entertainment options.
"Canadians are important to California – contributing to our culture, our economy and our tourism industry," said Caroline Beteta, president and CEO of Visit California. "Through a cinematic tribute and the Expedia partnership we're launching today, we wanted to say thank you to our Canadian friends for all they have given to California and let them know a warm welcome awaits when they are ready."
The initiative follows a recent statement from California Governor Gavin Newsom, who encouraged Canadians to rediscover the state’s many attractions. Last month, Newsom and Beteta co-hosted a tourism industry town hall attended by more than 1,000 stakeholders, reaffirming the historic ties and shared values between Canada and California.
Canadians can watch the new video at Visit California's website and explore deals through the “California Loves Canada” page on Expedia.
