It’s Monday, but TravelPulse Canada is heading south for “The World’s Biggest Weekend.”
That’s how Royal Caribbean International is positioning its newest ship – and the second-largest cruise ship in the world – Utopia of the Seas. Based in Port Canaveral, Utopia, at 236,680 gross tons and with a capacity for 5,668 passengers, is the largest-ever ship to debut by offering 3- and 4-night cruises.
In that amount of time, cruisers will be hard-pressed to enjoy the 40 restaurants and bars, five pools, two casinos and a skating rink aboard Utopia – among many other things -- but that’s all part of the plan. Royal Caribbean wants to entice first-time cruisers onto the ship, in hope they will return in future for longer cruises.
Utopia was welcomed to its new home on Florida’s Atlantic coast last week, with more than 2,000 crew members celebrating across the ship’s Caribbean pool deck.

Up next is a celebration featuring the ship’s godmother, GRAMMY-winning artist and songwriter Meghan Trainor, as she performs and names Utopia before it begins sailing 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday vacations on Friday, July 19.

We’re excited to see Royal Railway - Utopia Station, the latest brainchild of Royal Caribbean’s innovative designers. It’s a first-of-its-kind immersive train car dining experience, and it looks like a blast.
Every vacation on Utopia will include “time to thrill and chill” on Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. The private island features 14 waterslides, the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean and The Bahamas, the newly opened adults-only oasis, Hideaway Beach.
Utopia offers opportunity for Canadian travel advisors who send families and couples to Orlando’s theme parks and golf courses. A land/sea vacation option holds strong appeal. And by offering its newest hardware as a short vacation option, RCI is looking to convert first-timers into long-timers.
