Welcome to the fleet, MSC World America.
MSC Cruises has officially taken delivery of the new ship at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.
The 6,762-guest vessel will now head across the Atlantic for her naming ceremony on April 9 at the new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal.
While in France, the cruise line’s leaders also held the coin ceremony for MSC World Asia and celebrated the steel cutting for the newly-named MSC World Atlantic.
All three new vessels are World Class ships. MSC World Asia is on track to begin sailing during the winter of 2026-27 in the Mediterranean Sea. MSC World Atlantic, meanwhile, is scheduled to debut in 2027. The ship will be based at Port Canaveral and will sail to the Caribbean during the 2027-28 winter season.
“Today is a proud moment for all of us at MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l’Atlantique as we mark these major milestones in the development of our fleet,” says Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of the MSC Group Cruise Division.
MSC World America is equipped with several sustainability features, including engines that can run on liquified natural gas and shore power connectivity. The ship also has an advanced wastewater treatment system and an onboard recycling management plant.
“Continuous improvement of the onboard experience, ever more optimized energy performance—what a journey MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l'Atlantique teams have accomplished so far,” says Laurent Castaing, general manager of Chantiers de l’Atlantique.
“To date, MSC World America has the best energy efficiency design index from the (International Maritime Organization), and therefore the lowest carbon footprint of the entire cruise industry, and we will go even further with the two sister ships we are celebrating today," Castaing continued.
