Holland America's Zuiderdam returned to Ocho Rios on Nov. 11, delivering nearly 5,000 boxes of relief supplies while bringing cruise guests and volunteers to support Jamaica’s recovery from Hurricane Melissa.
The delivery included pantry-safe food items, baking ingredients, water, toiletries, cleaning supplies, bedding and clothing. The ship also delivered a large supply of canned meat donated by Holland America partner AlphaOne USA.
“We are honored to return to Ocho Rios and deeply grateful for the collaboration with the port, local community and tour operators,” said Beth Bodensteiner, president, Holland America Line. “The decision was made with care and respect, knowing that tourism is vital to Jamaica’s recovery and future. Our guests are excited to bring much-needed support to the local economy.”
Zuiderdam, the first of two cruise ships that arrived in Ocho Rios yesterday, carried more than 1,900 guests and made a stop at Reynolds Pier to deliver aid to Jamaica’s Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management.
As the line resumes cruises to destinations affected by the hurricane, Holland America is also offering travelers early access to its Black Friday presale.
Starting Nov. 12, guests who sign up on hollandamerica.com can book discounted fares on cruises through October 2027 before the sale opens to the public on Nov. 20.
The sale includes up to 30% off cruise fares, free prepaid crew appreciation, 50% reduced deposits and free or reduced third and fourth guests when traveling in the same stateroom.
“Whether it’s a multigenerational cruise to Alaska or a relaxing escape to the Caribbean, this presale is a great way to get an early start on Black Friday savings,” said Dan Rough, vice president of revenue management for Holland America Line.
