The former Costa Magica is set to gain new life as a party cruise vessel travelling the Greek Islands.

Maritime Executive reports that Greek shipping company Seajets acquired eight ships from Carnival Corporation and bankrupt UK-based Cruise & Maritime Voyages between 2020 and 2023. Two were sold for scrap, while two others went to other operators – Celestyal Cruises and French startup Compagnie Française De Croisières.

Seajets has now decided to launch a party cruise company for the Greek Islands called Neonyx Cruises, beginning with the recently overhauled former Costa Magica, the largest of the ships Seajets acquired.

The novel plan is to combine a music festival with cultural experiences and scenery on three- and four-night itineraries offering passengers the option of starting from Piraeus or Mykonos, Greece, or Cesme, Turkey. The ship, to be renamed Goddess of the Night, will also make a port call in Santorini, Greece on Wednesdays.

Neonyx says it will offer adult-only cruises that will feature seven to ten international music DJs along with dancers and acrobats. They will also feature a casino, wellness amenities, sports, and shopping.

Marketing for the cruises says music performances will run from sunset to sunrise, with the main buffet restaurant serving food till 4:30 am.

The operation is scheduled to start July 15 aboard the 102,784 gross ton vessel that offers accommodations for up to 3,470 passengers and just over 1,000 crew. Costa Magica was originally built by Fincantieri with work started in 2002 and service entry in 2004.

Seajets also owns the former P&O Oceania, Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas, and the former Veendam from Holland America. It is yet to announce any future plans for that hardware.
