Explora Journeys is celebrating three major construction milestones.
The cruise line hosted a festive event at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente Shipyard in Genoa, Italy, to mark the float out of EXPLORA III and the steel cutting for EXPLORA V. Caroline Cooney-Hurrell, customer journey strategist at Explora Journeys, was also honored as godmother during the traditional coin ceremony of EXPLORA IV
“This triple celebration reflects the strength of our vision and the power of collaboration between our team, our partners at Fincantieri and the unwavering support of the Aponte-Vago family,” says Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys. “Guided by our values of care, respect and excellence, we are not just building ships—we are creating a legacy of transformative journeys that will endure for generations to come.”
Construction is progressing as planned, with EXPLORA III slated to join the fleet in 2026. EXPLORA IV will follow in 2027, with EXPLORA VI scheduled to debut in 2028.
By 2028, Explora Journeys will have six ships in its luxury fleet. All of the brand’s vessels are being equipped with the newest and most advanced sustainability features, including the ability to connect to shore power while in port to reduce emissions. The vessels also boast underwater noise management systems to help protect marine life, as well as a variety of energy-efficient onboard systems to ensure optimal engine performance and reduced fuel consumption.
Starting with EXPLORA III, the brand’s four newest ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas and will be ready to use renewable alternatives such as bio-LNG and synthetic LNG. EXPLORA V and VI are being built with the possibility of using next-generation fuel cell technology, which is capable of converting LNG into hydrogen to reduce emissions at ports even further.
