Carnival Spirit is back on the water after a month-long dry dock.

After undergoing renovations, the 2,124-guest Carnival Cruise Line ship returns to service with several upgrades and enhancements, including a new Heroes Tribute Bar. The bar, which is now included on 14 of the line’s ships, serves as a hangout for active-duty service members and military veterans.

Crews also refreshed the ship’s Cloud 9 spa, fitness center and retail shops. They also added a new Carnival Adventures Shop, a Dreams Studio and a new mini golf course. They created a dedicated space for Chef’s Table, and gave the casino a fresh new look and layout. They also refreshed the ship’s nightclub and all of its youth program spaces.

Carnival Spirit departed from Barcelona over the weekend. The vessel is now sailing across the Atlantic Ocean to Miami. From there, it will sail through the Panama Canal to Seattle as it prepares for the Alaska summer season. Week-long Alaska cruises begin mid-April.

In September, the ship will sail a 15-day round trip “Carnival Journeys” cruise from Seattle to Hawaii, followed by a one-way voyage from Seattle to New Orleans in October. The vessel will then return to its seasonal homeport of Mobile, Alabama.

“The new Heroes Tribute Bar and all the other upgrades to Carnival Spirit are part of our ongoing effort to continually enhance our existing fleet with features we know our guests appreciate and enjoy,” says Lisa McCabe, Carnival’s vice president of refurbishments.
