Germany is a great country for family getaways, with dynamic cities full of parks and museums, outdoor adventures across the forests and mountains, or even digging into history across this ancient land. And for last minute travelers, there’s still time to save some money—Rail Europe is offering special family rail fares, booked now through September 12, 2026, for travel from now through September 14, 2026.

Germany’s famed Deutsche Bahn (or DB) covers almost the entirety of the country, from the Black Forest to the Alps, as well as the beaches of the Baltic Coast and cities of lore like Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, and Heidelberg. Whether families are looking for hiking, biking, or exploring castles, they’ll find their perfect vacation spot by rail.

On some of DB’s InterCity Express trains, families will enjoy the use of the designated spaces for families with toddlers or families with older children. The toddler spaces (Kleinkindabteil) have space for baggage, along with buggies, electrical plugs for heating bottles, changing facilities and more.

The areas for older families (Familienbereich) boast more space to roam and interact with other families and include access to the onboard entertainment program for children. The program is free and does not need to be booked ahead of time. Plus, young people up to 15 years of age are free when traveling with an adult, or are half-price if they are traveling by themselves.

And for travel advisors who want to more actively partner with Rail Europe, they can become certified experts through the training program. This can increase sales, allow advisors to make use of a variety of tips and updated information, and offer better advice to their clients. Access to all the essential information will better inform advisors, giving them the most up to date data to make their clients’ travels effortless. Courses are free, are available online, and they can be taken in any order desired. Plus, the courses focus on different countries’ train systems, so your focus can go beyond Germany.
