Accor-owned Orient Express will launch a new luxury rail service in Italy in 2023. Named 'La Dolce Vita,' the concept will pay tribute to a historical period of glamour, joie de vivre and artistic fervour in Italy during the 1960s.
The new luxury service will welcome passengers on six trains with itineraries exploring Italy from north to south, along with international routes with stops in Paris, Istanbul, and Split, Croatia.
Guests can spend anywhere from one to three nights aboard the sumptuous new trains, with time at each stop to enjoy the destination. A stopover in Rome will anchor each journey, including a stay at Minerva, the first Orient Express hotel, scheduled to open in 2024.
Designed by Dimorestudio, a global architectural and design studio, the Orient Express La Dolce Vita train aims to embody the Italian art of living and celebrate the craftsmanship, design and creativity of the 1960-70s.
Trains will feature 12 deluxe cabins, 18 suites, and one 'honour suite' and restaurant.
Accor is promising 5-star service on board, including award-winning Italian wines and exclusive cuisine. Before departure at the Roma Termini station, the Orient Express executive lounge will welcome passengers offering them a selection of refreshments in an elegant space.
"At Accor, we consider it an immense privilege to re-launch the historic Orient Express brand for passionate and discerning travellers," said Accor chief executive Sébastien Bazin.
"These trains offer a new vision of luxury travel that is beyond our imagination," he added.
Details on itineraries for the new Orient Express La Dolce Vita will be released next year.
