WestJet has revealed highlights of its Edmonton winter 2024/2025 flight schedule, its largest ever with 16 nonstop destinations in Canada, nine transborder, including Hawaii, and five options to Mexico.
The schedule boosts the carrier’s overall capacity from YEG by more than 20% compared to winter 2023. Overall, WestJet estimates it will fly more than 4 million seats in and out of Edmonton this year, representing fully half of the airport’s traffic.

"Serving a total of 30 non-stop destinations from Edmonton International Airport in the winter season, WestJet is proud to bring more connectivity to the city than ever before, holding our position as the region's leading airline," said John Weatherill, WestJet Group EVP and Chief Commercial Officer.
Building on WestJet's summer schedule currently in service, the airline says it will increase winter frequencies on key domestic routes critical to business and leisure travellers connecting to Alberta's capital city.
WestJet will operate approximately 313 flights out of Edmonton International Airport per week. Edmonton is one of the most connected cities in the airline’s network, and will see new or increased flight frequency on 10 of 16 domestic routes.
For the winter season, domestic highlights include new routes between Edmonton and Ottawa, up to 11X weekly, and Edmonton and Montreal, up to five times weekly. There are significant frequency boost on other routes, including 10 more weekly flights between Edmonton and Winnipeg, to as many as 16, and adding eight more weekly flights to raise the total of Edmonton-Vancouver weekly flights to 42.
On the transborder product, WestJet is adding a new route with 7X weekly service from Edmonton to Atlanta, which offers a huge web of connections.
Connecting Edmonton and Mexico’s top destinations this winter, WestJet is adding a third weekly flight to Huatalco, and another on the busy Cancun route, with up to nine weekly flights. Edmonton-region travellers can also head south to Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.

During a visit to Edmonton in May, CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech told the city that WestJet was working to secure additional planes from the used aircraft market to accelerate its growth plans.
That came to fruition earlier this week when WS announced it will acquire an additional three Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from BOC Aviation Limited. It also announced a deal to lease a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from leasing company AerDragon. All four aircraft are expected to join the fleet this year.
