Virgin Atlantic announced the launch of High Five, a new Flying Club initiative aimed at recognizing long-term customer loyalty rather than frequent travel alone.
The program is now live, with flight history backdated to Jan. 1, 2021.
Eligible Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members who have flown with the airline in five different calendar years will receive their reward automatically.
According to the airline, qualifying members will receive 12,000 Virgin Points. Those holding Red Tier status will also earn a 10% bonus on points accrued on future flights.
As an example of redemption value, a return Saver Reward seat from New York to London starts at 12,000 Virgin Points in Economy or 16,500 points in Premium, excluding taxes and fees. Members with household accounts can pool multiple 12,000-point rewards earned within the same year.
Virgin Points do not expire and can be redeemed across Virgin Atlantic, Delta Air Lines, and other partners within the Virgin Red network.
Rewards are being credited automatically to eligible Flying Club accounts. Virgin Atlantic says members will soon be able to track their progress toward future High Five rewards through the airline’s mobile app.
High Five follows a series of recent changes to Flying Club, including counting reward flights toward tier status, non-expiring points, and unlimited availability of reward seats.
“Not everyone flies every month, but many of our customers come back to Virgin Atlantic year after year – and that commitment deserves to be rewarded,” said Anthony Woodman, Vice President, Flying Club & CRM, Virgin Atlantic.
“High Five is our way of recognizing that loyalty isn’t one-size-fits-all and giving something back to customers who make Virgin Atlantic their airline of choice over time.”
