Porter Airlines is significantly ramping up its winter sun strategy for 2026–27.
The airline announced it will operate nearly 5,000 flights to sun destinations next winter, representing an increase of more than 150% compared to the previous year.
The expansion includes four new destinations: Aruba, San José (Costa Rica), Montego Bay and Los Cabos, alongside its first-ever international routes from Alberta.
Among the highlights: New service from Edmonton to Los Cabos (4x weekly), Puerto Vallarta, Las Vegas and Phoenix, as well as new flights from Ottawa and Toronto to Los Cabos.
Ottawa–Los Cabos is particularly notable, as Porter will be the only airline serving that route.
“We are concluding an extremely successful first season of flying to southern markets beyond the U.S. and are building on this with additional destinations and routes for next winter,” said Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting.
“Our network is growing by two new countries, four cities and 15 routes through this announcement. Six airports across Canada are benefiting from this service, giving travellers many new and competitive options for choosing their winter getaways.”

New Routes Across Canada
Porter’s expansion spans multiple regions, with new routes launching from Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, Hamilton, Edmonton and Calgary.
Additions include:
Toronto–Aruba (5x weekly), Montego Bay (5x weekly), San José (4x weekly), Los Cabos (3x weekly)
Ottawa–Aruba (2x weekly), Montego Bay (2x weekly), Los Cabos (2x weekly)
Halifax–Cancun (3x weekly) and Fort Lauderdale (4x weekly)
Hamilton–Montego Bay (2x weekly)
Edmonton–Los Cabos (4x weekly), Puerto Vallarta (3x weekly), Phoenix (daily), Las Vegas (4x weekly)
Calgary–Phoenix (daily)
In addition, Porter is increasing capacity on several existing routes, including doubling Ottawa–Cancun service to 10 weekly flights and boosting frequencies from Hamilton and Toronto to popular Florida and Mexico destinations.
The expansion is supported by the airline’s growing fleet of Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which has enabled Porter to broaden its reach across North America, the Caribbean and Central America.
Los Cabos Gains Momentum in Canada
Within the expanded network, Los Cabos is emerging as a key growth destination for Canadian travellers.
New and increased service from Toronto, Ottawa and Edmonton—combined with additional lift from Air Transat out of Montreal—reflects sustained demand and growing confidence in the market.
“Canada has become one of our most important international markets, and we’re seeing that growth expand across the country,” says Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.
“Airlines are adding service because demand is strong and consistent, and because Los Cabos offers an experience that continues to resonate with Canadian travellers.”
Canada is Los Cabos’ second-largest international source market after the United States.
