It may be snowing and blowing, but Canadian airlines still managed to complete the vast majority of their flights in January. Flair led the pack, completing 99.3% of scheduled flights, followed by Porter (98.4%), and Air Canada and WestJet tied at 97.3%.
Flair cancelled flights almost four times less often than competitors.
“Passengers deserve to get where they need to go without the stress of cancellations,” said Maciej Wilk, Interim CEO of Flair Airlines. “We’re proud to be Canada’s most reliable airline, but we know there’s always room to improve. We remain committed to transparency and accountability, which is why we back our performance with our On-Time Guarantee (OTG) vouchers.”
While most flights were completed, they were completed on time far less. Flair’s On-Time Performance (OTP) landed at 61.8%, trailing Porter (62.9%), Air Canada (68.5%) and WestJet (72%).
Flair was still pleased to report that it was still able to deliver on its OTG with 88% of flights arriving within 60 minutes of their scheduled arrival.
“Despite the challenges of winter, Flair was able to minimize cancellations far better than our competitors,” added Wilk. “Passengers would rather wait a little longer than have their plans completely derailed, so we focus on completing flights above all else. We’ll keep improving our operations to ensure reliability and timeliness are delivered consistently for our passengers.”
