For Canada's newest airline, it is welcome news that the federal government is dropping all COVID-19 entry restrictions beginning October 1.
"Canada Jetlines applauds the Canadian government's decision to remove COVID border measures," said CEO Eddy Doyle.
"This is a critical step for inbound and outbound travel and tourism in Canada. We appreciate the difficult decisions that needed to be made to ensure the safety of Canadians over the last two years. We are confident that this very important move will align Canada with many other countries around the world and will contribute to economic growth, job creation and free movement."
This announcement came shortly after Jetlines' recent launch from its travel hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Its first scheduled flight into Calgary International Airport (YYC) arrived successfully on September 22.

On the same date - October 1 -- Canadians will no longer be required to wear masks on planes. That's good news for Jetlines flight crew, who won't have to police mask use as part of their responsibilities.
Canada Jetlines commenced operations with biweekly flights operating Thursdays and Sundays out of Toronto (YYZ) to Calgary (YYC) from 07:55am - 10:10am EST and returns from Calgary (YYC) to Toronto (YYZ) 11:40am - 17:20 EST. Frequency will increase to three flights per week, Thursdays through Sundays, starting October 13.
Jetlines will use Airbus 320 aircraft to travel to leisure destinations within Canada, the U.S., Cuba, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Antigua, Bahamas, and other Caribbean nations. A second plane is scheduled to arrive before the end of the year, and another in the first months of 2023. The company plan calls for an expansion to 15 aircraft by 2025.
