Transat announced that 100 new travel advisors from across Canada attended its second annual Rookie Camp, held May 2–9, 2025, at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Advisors attended a series of sessions on Transat’s offerings, received instruction from hotel partners, and visited nearly 40 properties across Punta Cana, Miches, and Cap Cana.

“Transat’s mission with Rookie Camp is to immerse new travel advisors in its core values,” said Lindsay Merrill, Transat Sales Manager.

“We believe that having the opportunity to communicate this mindset, empowering newcomers with practical knowledge and fostering enduring connections so early in their careers is truly invaluable. It's our way of bridging distances and staying firmly rooted in their minds.”

This year’s lineup included both returning and new hotel brands such as Iberostar Resorts, Meliá Hotels International, World of Hyatt Inclusive Collection, and Bahia Principe, among others.

Advisors also had the chance to explore the E-Travel Guide, a new online tool developed by Trafic Tours for group travel planning, and to experience services provided by Transat’s local partner, Turissimo.

According to Merrill, feedback was overwhelmingly positive. "Several advisors even mentioned that they were looking forward to reviewing their notes and highlighting ideas for selling Transat products to their clients. Their buzzing enthusiasm to apply their newly acquired knowledge is palpable," she said.

Fiona Allen of Marlin Travel in Dundas said the experience helped elevate her confidence and sales approach.

“Being able to personally experience the accommodations, service and setting of each resort provided me with a much deeper understanding of what to recommend to my clients,” she said. “The itinerary was thoughtfully curated to balance site inspections with training, cultural experiences, and social outings where I was able to truly connect with BDMs and fellow new advisors.”

Brea Hindy from MACS Travel in Alliston called the experience a “hands-on masterclass.”

“This was my first FAM and it simply was monumental for my business,” she said. “What made this trip truly memorable were the people. These relationships will help me better serve my clients, confidently match them with the right properties and bring even more value to their trips.”

Veronica Van Cooten of VVC Travel also praised the camp for its networking opportunities and structured learning. “The event was exceptionally well organized and packed with valuable content—from practical sales tips to strategic insights. One of the biggest highlights for me was meeting so many friendly and passionate travel advisors,” she said.

Transat has not yet confirmed plans for a third edition of Rookie Camp, but this year’s turnout and testimonials suggest strong demand for the initiative moving forward.
