G Adventures has announced that its 2026 GX Summit will now take place in Cambodia, shifting the event from its originally planned location in Morocco.
The summit is scheduled for September 23 to 28, 2026.
The company said the decision reflects GX’s focus on using travel to support destinations where community-based tourism can have a meaningful economic impact. Cambodia has faced tourism challenges in the wake of regional instability, affecting local livelihoods that depend on visitor spending.

“GX is so much more than a conference,” said Bruce Poon Tip, founder of G Adventures.
“It’s about celebrating the power of travel done right, in destinations where our global community can help drive real, positive change.
“Morocco has enjoyed significant tourism success in recent years while Cambodia, despite being a spectacular and safe destination, has faced challenges following regional unrest, which impacts the livelihoods of local people.”
Now in its fourth year, the GX Summit brings together travel advisors, industry partners, media, content creators, travellers and G Adventures staff.
The event is designed to provide first-hand exposure to how community tourism initiatives support local economies, protect cultural heritage and create longer-term opportunities.

G Adventures pointed to a consistent pattern in GX host destinations.
Previous summits have been held in regions focused on recovery, including Peru after civil unrest, India during its post-pandemic rebound, and Jordan.
Following GX in Jordan in September 2025, the company reported a 186% increase in G Adventures passengers to the destination.

“Looking back, the impact is undeniable,” added Poon Tip.
“GX doesn’t just talk about community tourism, it helps to activate it. I couldn’t be more excited for Cambodia to be the next chapter in that story and I want to personally thank the Moroccan Tourism Board for their support and belief in the vision of GX.”
GX Cambodia will include programming in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, focusing on the country’s history, culture, and community tourism projects. Attendees will have opportunities to meet local residents and visit initiatives that support sustainable tourism development.
