The mega-resort Baha Mar, which encompasses the Rosewood, Grand Hyatt and SLS hotels in addition to fourty restaurants and bars, a state-of-the-art casino and the largest convention center in the Caribbean opened to big fancare for its inauguration in 2017 in Nassau, Bahamas. The luxurious complex, the result of a massive investment of 4.2 billion, reopened in March 2021 after a year of closure, while many expansion projects were already in the pipeline.

TravelPulse went to the island of New Providence to visit the complex which has a brand new water park, free for hotel guests, a new "Beach Club" section which directly overlooks the beach with infinity pool and beach beds, several new restaurants such as: Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House by Marcus Samuelsson, Café Boulud by Daniel Boulud by Daniel Boulud, 25 North, Cleo Grill and an 18 hole mini golf course for the whole family.

The result is impressive, and Baha Mar's offer to customers is more than comprehensive. No matter which hotel you stay at (in our case it was at the very hip SLS) you will have access to absolutely all of the hotel amenities, including the most recent additions, that are right at your fingertips.

What's new in Baha Mar

On arrival, an electronic bracelet is given to each customer, which allows them to open their room door and pay for any purchase made on the Baha Mar site. Convenient! The customer therefore does not have to carry keys or wallet.

Check-in is now done entirely online , the customer receives a link to check in "remotely" and then all he has to do is collect his bracelet once the room is ready and assigned.

The hotel is 100% operational and all restaurants and bars are open, however reservations must be made everywhere to ensure maximum capacity and social distancing is respected.

New Activities: Cooking classes and workshops are offered in the new The Kitchen space in the Baha Bay section, Sip & Paint evenings are offered at The Current art gallery where patrons can paint while sipping a drink, the Baha Bay water park which offers more than 30 experiences is open and free for all hotel guests who can go there as many times as they wish during their stay, a mini -18 hole golf course, Mini Blue, which is not included in the stay experience, and finally the Nexus private club founded by by financier Joe Lewis, golfing greats Tiger Woods and Ernie Els, and actor and musician Justin Timberlake.

The big news is without a doubt the inauguration of Baha Bay ,the brand-new $200 million luxury water park featuring more than 30 attractions, 9 restaurants, a casino section "with sea view", a new section on the beach with infinity pools and luxurious private cabanas. It's a great addition for families who want to keep the kids occupied, and access is unlimited and free for all Baha Mar guests. The "lazy river" is a favorite besides the wave pool, otherwise tube slides for two and four are available, to try as a couple or as a family.

Otherwise, for adults, the Baha Bay beach club is simply stunning, now offering an infinity pool with sea views, plush beach beds and a beachfront restaurant. A great addition to the already excellent offered on the Baha Mar site, which previously did not have a sea view pool or beach club section.

Two new star chefs

The two new gourmet restaurants increase the quality of the on-site restaurants as two star chefs settle in Baha Mar with perfect concepts: Café Boulud by Daniel Boulud and Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House by Marcus Samuelsson, both exceptional. In addition to the excellent ones: Carna, Fi'lia, Katsuya, Cleo, Costa and Shuang Ba.

We ate extremely well in Baha Mar, which offers a stay experience that borders on perfection for its overall offer of activities, swimming pools, beaches, exceptional hotels and entertainment. Located about fifteen minutes from Nassau International Airport, it is without a doubt the new dream destination for families and couples looking for their next vacation spot.

Also, a private clinic installed within the complex offers free to customers to perform their antigen test which is required on day 5 of any stay in the Bahamas (to get there, you must also apply for a Health Visa which requires a negative covid test no longer than 5 days before arrival) the PCR test is also offered at a cost and Canadians who must do it before their return to Canada.
