New Calgary Fairmont Hotel Announced

A second Fairmont hotel is set to be built in Calgary, shoring up development around Stampede Park. The new property will house guest rooms, residences, meeting and convention space and a spa and wellness offering.

The Fairmont Palliser has been a Calgary institution since 1911 and the prospect of a second Fairmont in Cowtown is cause for excitement in the industry. 

“We are honored to play a role in this incredible new property at such a pivotal moment in Calgary’s development,” says Omer Acar, CEO, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. “Adding a second property in this flourishing city where the beloved Fairmont Palliser currently resides will be a significant achievement.” Building a new Fairmont reinforces the company’s “leadership position” in Western Canada and strengthens the long-term brand commitment to Calgary as a destination, he says. 

The new 225-key Fairmont hotel is slated to open in Q4 2031, with the design concept being revealed in the next few months as the regulatory process begins. The property will be part of Calgary's on-going development around Stampede Park, which is home to the newly expanded BMO Centre, now Western Canada's largest convention facility. Also planned are more hotel developments, plus infrastructure upgrades, new public spaces, and improved transit access to attract more events and visitors to the area.
