Hyatt Hotels Corporation is preparing for its biggest year of hotel openings in Canada, with 10 properties expected to debut in 2027 as the company continues to expand its presence across the country.

The hotel company's Canadian portfolio has quadrupled in less than a decade, and with more than 40 deals currently in its development pipeline, further growth is on the horizon.

“Our growth reflects the strength of our relationships with owners and developers, the breadth of our brands and the flexibility of our development models,” said Julienne Smith, Head of Americas Growth, Hyatt.

“Canada remains an important market with significant opportunity to expand our brand presence.”

The expansion includes everything from luxury hotels in major cities to extended-stay properties in smaller markets, as well as the Canadian debut of several Hyatt brands.

“As we look toward a record year of openings in 2027, our focus remains on deepening relationships with owners and creating opportunities to grow together,” said Scott Richer, Head of Growth, Canada, Hyatt.

“At Hyatt, business is personal. It’s about understanding our owners’ goals, earning their trust and creating lasting value for them and our guests.”

New Hotels Across Canada

Hyatt has already added several properties to its Canadian portfolio, including The Clayfield, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, and Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls Fallsview.

Other recent openings include Hyatt Place Vancouver/Metrotown in Burnaby, British Columbia, and Hyatt House Thunder Bay in Ontario.

Looking ahead, one of the more notable additions will be Park Hyatt Vancouver, which will establish the luxury brand's presence on Canada's West Coast alongside the existing Park Hyatt Toronto.

Hyatt Expands Into Haida Gwaii

Another development will bring Hyatt's Unscripted by Hyatt collection to Canada for the first time through a collaboration with Haida Enterprise Corporation, the economic development arm of the Haida Nation.

Two properties on Graham Island in Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, will join the collection: Haida House at Tllaal (Tlell) and Ocean House at Tlaga Gawtlaas (Old Massett).

The arrangement will allow the independently operated properties to become part of Hyatt's global network while maintaining their Haida ownership and identities.

“Haida House and Ocean House are distinctly Haida Gwaii, and that will remain at the heart of who we are,” said Leticia Hill, CEO, Haida Enterprise Corporation. “This collaboration with the Unscripted by Hyatt brand gives us an opportunity to share these special places with a broader audience while maintaining our Haida ownership, identity and connection to Haida Gwaii.”

Smaller Markets Get New Hyatt Brands

Hyatt is also turning its attention to secondary and smaller Canadian markets with the introduction of two upper-midscale brands, Hyatt Select and Hyatt Studios.

Hyatt Select Kingston is expected to open later in 2026, marking the brand's Canadian debut. The brand is designed primarily for converting existing hotels into Hyatt properties.

In Saskatchewan, a dual-branded Hyatt Select Prince Albert and Hyatt Studios Prince Albert development is scheduled to open in 2027.

That project will also introduce Hyatt Studios to Canada, offering apartment-style suites with kitchens and amenities intended for travellers planning longer stays.
