Canadian hotels are doing better than they have since the pandemic put a dent in travel revenues. In numbers not seen since August, 2019, hotels across the country are reporting strong July performances in occupancy, average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR), reports commercial real estate company Co-Star.

Nationally, occupancy rose 3 percent over last year, to 77.6 percent. ADR rose to $248.50, (a 5.3 percent increase) while RevPAR climbed by 8.5 percent to $192.75.

The stand out regionally is Manitoba, which saw steep increases in all three metrics: the province saw its occupancy surge by 14.8 percent to 80.9 percent, ADR rise by 14.5 percent to $180.01 and RevPAR grow by 31.5 percent to $145.71

Quebec, which didn’t fair as well as the other provinces, fell 1.2 percent in occupancy rates when compared with July 2024, but increased in both ADR and RevPAR.

Ottawa-Gatineau had the highest occupancy rate increase in the country: up 6.5 percent to 74.4 percent.
